The Ingress page now points people to Gateway API, and the Ingress API is frozen. For greenfield clusters, is there any reason left to choose Ingress?
The role split is the real win: platform owns the Gateway, app teams own HTTPRoutes. With Ingress everything was one object and annotations leaked controller details everywhere.
Annotations as an API were always a smell. Every controller had its own dialect.
Only reason I'd still pick Ingress: a third-party chart that emits it and nothing else. Even then most controllers support both.
